How Slate handles workspace data.

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Slate provides web and mobile workspace tools for organizations. This policy explains how Slate collects, uses, and shares information when people use Slate websites, mobile apps, and related services.

Information we collect

Account and profile information

Name, email address, phone number, role, organization membership, workspace membership, and profile details used to authenticate users and operate Slate workspaces.

Workspace content

Messages, tasks, comments, meeting notes, reports, uploaded files, images, media links, and other content users choose to create or share in a workspace.

Calendar, notification, and device data

Meeting and scheduling information, device push tokens, platform details, and notification preferences used to provide app functionality.

Location data

Location may be collected when a workspace enables time tracking and a user grants permission for clock-in or clock-out verification.

Diagnostics and support data

Request identifiers, route and status details, error reports, logs, and related technical data used to secure, debug, and improve Slate.

How we use information

  • Provide authentication, workspace access, collaboration, chat, tasks, Meet rooms, reporting, notifications, and time tracking.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and support customer requests.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and product quality.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable agreements.

How information is shared

Slate does not sell personal information or use personal information for third-party advertising. Information may be shared with:

  • Service providers that host, secure, monitor, or support Slate.
  • Customer organizations and authorized workspace members according to their roles and permissions.
  • Legal, safety, or compliance recipients when required by law or needed to protect rights, users, or the service.

Customer workspace data

Many Slate workspaces are controlled by customer organizations. Those organizations decide who may access a workspace, what roles users have, what modules are enabled, and how workspace content is managed. Users should contact their organization administrator for workspace-specific access, correction, retention, or deletion requests.

Security and retention

Slate uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. Information is retained for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support legitimate operational needs.

Children and student information

Slate is intended for use through organizations and authorized workspace users. When a customer organization uses Slate with student or youth program information, that organization is responsible for obtaining any required notices, consents, and permissions for its users and records. Read Age Suitability for store-review age notes.

Your choices

Users may update certain account information in Slate, control device permissions through operating system settings, and contact their organization administrator about workspace content. Account holders can start an account-deletion request after signing in. Slate immediately shuts down account access; organization-owned records and legally retained information are handled under the applicable customer and legal obligations. Users may also contact Slate about privacy questions.
